RE: SciFi's First Wave...

Bit unwieldy for close-quarters battle, I would think.
In the show, the 5.7mm round had proved rather effective versus the Jaffa's personal armor.

I actually liked the idea of replacing the MP5s with the P90s for a few reasons:
1) More ammunition -- 50 rounds of 5.7mm versus 30 rounds of 9mm per magazine. However, I don't know what the standard issue of magazines were, possibly one in the weapon and six in reserve.
2) Better effective penetration versus personal armor, even the Jaffa armor.
3) Pretty much the same length, until you extend the stock on the MP5. Still, both are good in CQB.
4) It looks different and a bit more "SpecOps" than the MP5 these days, since practically everyone that's considered SWAT or some elite military unit (at least in Hollywood's eyes) in the Western world uses the MP5 or some variant. (Just my opinion, I could be wrong.)

Anyone on the list here have any experience with the P90? Seems to me like it's great for "point and shoot" firing.
