Afghani War, anti-Sun Tzu style

The past issues of waging war in Afghanistan was that
the British tried to hold the territory, with not
enough men and means.

The same goes for the Soviets. They tried to go in
and hold the land.

In this case, where revenge/retribution is the key
outcome, not land or resources, there is a decided
advantage to the attackers.

You do not need to put people on the ground. You
carpet bomb them. You wipe the earth clean, and then
go away. You don't hold the land, you don't try to
fight guerillas, you don't take resources. You hurt
them as much as you can and then walk away. Anyone
foolish enough to try to come back in behind us (like
Pakistan) that wants to try to hold the land...
they'll get hurt like the British and the Soviets.
