Protecting your local senators

A few years ago, I was working on the local US representitive's campaign for 
governor (I thought it might be a good idea to know someone that could grant 
a pardon).  During the midst of the campaign, he started to receive death 
threats.

Surprisingly security in Delaware was provided by the Capital City Police 
Department, not by the State or county police departments.  Of course, once 
he became governor, he had a permanent police escort.
