Anything "bigger" or more powerful than 7.62x54R or 7.62x51N is generally
used against materiel, not people. The "new" AWM in .338 Lapua was picked up
by the Royal Army for Anti Vehicle Duties (stopping a UAZ469, not a T-72)
and while it could be used to total the poor bastard on the other end, it
would be a poor displacement of battlefield resources (who knows how many
troops you can mess up by shooting their ride/supply truck... anyone care to
guess?).
