Depriving criminals, the mentally ill, the drug addicted and so on the
ability to purchase or obtain firearms is an admirable goal. I don't know
a single gun owner who's against it. But if the only way to do this is to
deprive 80,000,000 peaceful, law-abiding citizens of their Constitutional
rights, is that really something we want to do?  Some people think yes;
others think no. Liberty involves a lot of tradeoffs, and the gun-control
debate is one of the most contentious tradeoffs being discussed today.

But that still does not answer why you need a 'Constitutional right to bear
arms. Surely one person's liberty to carry a gun can infringe on another's
liberty not to be shot. The truth of it is that you don't need a gun unless
you intend at some stage to use it.

The simple fact remains that the US is not the UK. We fought a war just
to get away from y'all telling us how to live our lives, and by and large,
we think that was the best decision we ever made. :)

And we don't?	:) :)
