In the future, please don't insert your reply into a message that I've 
signed without first deleting the signature.  Otherwise, mailers the 
world over will scream bloody murder that someone's tampered with my 
message.  :)  (The perils of digital signatures...)

Re: 99% of the world not needing a gun.  Discarding firearms offenses, 
the US and UK are roughly equal in crime rates.  Some sources even put 
the UK as a more dangerous place than the US.  Around here, the rate is 
about one person in seven being a victim of a violent crime at some 
point in their life.  The UK's rate is similar.
