What's so inaccurate about it?  There are exactly 28 grams per ounce; 
exactly 454 grams per pound; 2.205 pounds per kilogram.  2.54 centimeters 
per inch, 1.609344 kilometers per mile.

The English system is not in any way inaccurate.  A great many very fine 
engineering projects were undertaken using only the English system of 
measurement--the Golden Gate Bridge, for instance.

Now, admittedly, it has a great many faults, but inaccuracy isn't one of 
them.
