Re: ME System vs. Background.

For those that want to add some wierdness into an ME background.  The Call of Cthulu setting Delta Green, does many of the things that Black Ops does; explanes the currently unexplaned.  The nice thing is that the setting is such that the characters should never come accross any of the Old Ones or big C himself.  In DG the characters are government agents working in a conspriacy protecting the US against the 'official' conspriacy and others.  Some of the settings and antagonist can be used in an ME setting, to give that head scratching "did you see what I think we saw?  nah...couldn't be." aspect, if you are inclined to push it to the slightly cinematic and fantastic.  Some of the antagonist can be reworked some and dropped into a regular ME game; the Nazis in South America, get rid of the magic and zombies and you have a nice little 'bad guy' group that can be a fringe hinderance or a main nemisis, depending on the GM's whim.
There are a large number of sources to add a little weirdness into the ME setting.  I may not work for some gm's and players, although it might be a nice change for a one-shot or 'alternate timeline', similar to the goofy episodes of X-files.
I'm not saying that you can't have fun with it, but I *am* saying that
someone shouldn't go out there and buy GURPS Black Ops thinking it's going
to have good information for running a Millennium's End campaign, unless
you want Aliens and psychic assassins in ME.

That's exactly what i was saying.  I was just pointing out something i
had tried with my group, and they enjoyed it.  Not saying it's a permenant
supplement, or that you have to use any or all of it.  Just that it gave me
good ideas, and i intigrated some aspects from it, into the ME world in my
campaign.
Like i said, IF you use it, keep in mind, that BLACK OPS is all in the
backgroud, underground, as you said.  Just, as some people believe, it is
now.  UFO sightings, crop circles, abductions.....these are largely
unexplained in our timeline, BLACK OPS is just a way to explain it, within
the game, and to give the players some things to think about.
