Greetings.

Anyone else in the UK watch the Channel 5 documentary last night about the
South African Police Special Taskforce? This is a seriously elite unit, more
like military specfor than any police team I ever heard about...very scary
people all around.

What caught my eye was the sequence where they were invited into Mozambique
by the government to help seek out and destroy weapons that had been cached
secretly at the beginning of the civil war in that country some 18 years
ago. The voiceover man was saying  "These caches are a ready source of
weapons for the SA black market"...no way I thought to myself, they were
wrapped in blankets and buried in sandy soil for almost 2 decades...

One of the SA Taskforce guys picked up an AKM at random, wiped the sand off,
oiled it, loaded up...and then let off a full clip, no worries. I guess that
explains why the AK series is so popular worldwide, it's not just the sheer
numbers of them but tthe fact hat they WILL work.
