The best FTP program that I've seen in a while is
"LeechFTP".  I usually use BulletProofFTP since I paid
for it a while back, but LeechFTP is multithreaded. 
Way cool.  Did I mention that it was FREE?

As for HTML editors, I would use "AceHTML4 Freeware"
if you don't want to use a text editor.  You have to
deal with advertising, but it is very decent.

Just my buck and a quarter.
