	Above mentioned totally unnecessary "cover you ass" comment was
	highly amusing...

	Accidents do happen and fact that there is accident leading to
	death will surely mean that police authorities do not like
	outsiders snooping o it (because it could undig things like
	incompetence or broken rules) as careers might be ruined for 
	it (if said unregularities were made public).

	However, if there is indeed a crooked cop behind it, uncovering 
	one might be difficult. Perhaps this crooked cop was associated
	with unsavoury underworld elements? In such a case he might get
	bribes or perhaps skim some narcotics out of arrests and sell
	them personally. This kind of activity could protit crooced cop
	handsomely yet be somewhat isolated case (so it is something 
	this other police might have noticed and perhaps confronted
	crooked cop before). Crooked cop got nervous and thought that
	(fearing blackmail) he had no cohice but arrange untimely death
	of this dead cop. Things could get interesting if this dead cop
	had survived a narrow situation on street just a week ago (which 
	was arranged by crooked cop via his underworld contacts). Thus
	the dangerous shooting accident was a last resort crooked cop
	did.

	Then again, there are plenty of movies (and memoirs) describing
	high levels of corruption. Crooked cop might have a small team
	of friends doing similar kind of work, perhaps 2 or 3 other
	crooked cops. They could steal from crime scenes, skim narcotics
	and get bribes to turn blind eye. However, this kind of extended
	corruption depends on your vision of ME world. If you keep it
	fairly normal, the crooked cop is probably individual case, if 
	you make it bleak, it is only a tip of iceberg...
