Thanks for forwarding the link.  I snagged a few pictures for my own
references.

If anyone is interested in how a criminal group repeatedly struck
commercial armored cars, take a look at FBI Miami shootings in ~1986.  The
information is out there on the web (and occasionally on A&E / History /
Discovery channel).  The Miami shootout lead to a revaluation of the FBI
issue weapons.

The two perpetrators waited until the guards stopped at a site and opened
the vehicle up.  If the vehicle was open and the guards were exposed,
the armor didn't matter.  The perps were typically armed with a Mini-14
(5.56 mm) and shotgun/handgun.  The were often successful, although they
were getting in the tens of thousands of dollars.  There success stemmed
from consistent use of doctrine rather than machismo or gun wu.
