Might as well get a Beta C-Mag at this point, rather
than tape any magazines together.  Beta makes them for
most of your basic and modern assault rifles.

I would also like to mention that straight magazines
that are used for 9mm Steyr and similar (Uzi types)
tend to be very easy to use, if they are not TOO long.
 30-round magazines seem to be really nice.  They are
straight and extend well past the grip so you can hit
the release and pull.

The AK-47/74 latch is very well designed.  Easier to
use than the M-16 button.

Having experienced the FN P90, I challenge that this
is overly hard to reload, but I agree that it is
awkward, but easy to overcome with training.  In
confined quarters, I can see how it would be difficult
to pop and pull the magazine straight back, and then
thread the fresh magazine under the optics supports,
then snap down.
