Christmas '98 I was going to hit the range with some friends--an annual
tradition for us--and when I was cleaning Reason (Reason's brother, the
SIG-Sauer, is named Logic) the recoil spring sent the spring cap flying off
Godknowswhere. I called Kimber up and explained that in two weeks I was
going to the range for a get-together and needed a spring cap, pronto. They
explained to me that it was the Christmas season and there was a delay, but
they'd do their best.
Two days before Christmas I called again. Lo and behold, they sent it the
replacement to the wrong address. I fumed a little bit, then muttered
something about how I'd just take my SIG instead of my Kimber, and it wasn't
a big deal--just get the part to me soon as they could, okay?
I was awakened 8am Christmas Eve by the FedEx deliveryman, who had two new
spring assemblies for me. Shipped priority overnight from the Kimber
factory in New York. Inside was a note from the Kimber customer-service
people, wishing me a merry Christmas--and don't worry about paying us, just
call this one a Christmas gift.
Ever since, I've been a vocal and enthusiastic Kimber supporter.
