It can be done, but I find it an extremely ugly system and I should very

Why not:

(a) Use a real email client (even Outlook can filter by headers)
and filter on the X-Mailing-List: <millenniums-end-l@firedrake.org>
header;

(b) Filter by the "millenniums-end-l" that should always be in the
To: or Cc: field of the mail;

(c) Filter on the "Reply-To: millenniums-end-l@firedrake.org" that will
be in _every_ piece of list mail.

What's so marvellous about Subject: tagging that these other options
don't offer?
