And plenty of B/E operatives are either ex-LE or have trained to work
with them - though I get the feeling that B/E are rather closer to "if
in doubt, take him out" than your typical cop, at least in most people's
campaigns.

I confess that I'm quite surprised that criminals didn't start painting
their weapons day-glow colours a few years back, when (in the UK at
least) all the toy weapons were suddenly changed from black to
"obviously unrealistic" colours.

As for the game: how much freedom of action do you tend to allow B/E
operatives? I mostly work at the "if this could be handled by police
procedure, they wouldn't have hired you" level - the ops will be doing
things which are technically illegal, but generally subtly enough that
they won't get called on it (or caught): B&E to gather evidence, phone
taps, and so on. When it comes to killing people, though, it had better
look like self-defence.
