There really isn't any gliding in HALO, it's all freefall.
HALO stands for High Altitude Low Opening.
The idea is to jump high enough to avoid detection, minimize your exposure
as you decend.
The only real forward distance you get is from the aircraft you jump out
of.
If you jump from a plane that is going 180 knots, your body will start
going 180 knots foward, slowing as the drag of your body works......

Anyway, a High Altitude High Opening jump would allow lots of glide time,
and it is mostly dependent on how high you jump from, prevailing winds, the
amount of gear you are carrying......Concievablly you could jump over
California and touch down in Nevada or Arizona...
