This doesn't mean that hospitals don't take
precautions or that they are all shoddy, or that they
do not screen. There are a lot of wealthy people in SA
who pay for good medical attention in good hostpitals
and are just as worried about HIV as you - possibly
moreso. There are a lot of good doctors in SA too.
There is a lot of foot & mouth disease in England at
the moment; does this mean that we don't take any
precautions against it?

Hmmm. Strange figure. What was the source? I'm curious
as to why a hospital would have an intake for HIV/AIDs
related conditions that is so high. I would imagine
that a reporter is failing to report the whole picture
here in some way. And why name a particular hospital
above others? I'd be highly suspicious that this was a
special case for some reason: it specialised in HIV
cases, was in a very poor neighborhood, or is perhaps
not a hospital, but a hospice. Anyone have the
time/inclination to do some research?

HIV should be a concern anywhere, to be honest. The
general public seems to have almost forgotten about it
again.
