OK... tell me if I'm wrong...

Why didn't they crew abandon the plane and ditch it in
the sea, versus delivering sensative equipment into
the hands of the Chinese?

It is my understanding that the crew is supposed to be
trained in emergency evacuation of any plane,
especially in military planes, even of crews this
large and of planes this big.

Anyone have another take on things?
