At this time all we have is theory and supposition. I have been told nicely
to please f**k off by several of my friends in the intelligence community in
regards to this (understandably, of course). There is something more to this
than is being let on, and it may be sometime before we hear about the fact
that Chinese fighter command is quite similar to the former Soviet model
(You do what your ground controller tells you). There is a very good chance
they decided it was time to get their hands on what the Yanks have been
watching them with and see how it works.

The most serious concern for the Americans at this point is the loss of the
technology, not the data... that was most likely over the side mere minutes
after the PIC informed the crew of his intentions. Don't forget the US uses
unstable data storage technology the likes of which many civilians could not
even dream of. It would take an act of god to recover any scraps of data
from these systems.

All that said, it is fun to go on about it, isn't it?
