Re: UMF-II: was New Life for Millennium's End

If we look at what takes the most time when you go to add weapons or to
write a weapons guide, what is it that takes the most time? It's doing
the
research and writing the description/background. The stats actually
don't
take a huge amount of time to compile if you have the information
available.

On this mailing list, you have a large pool of willing researchers - just
look at all the work that has already been done. So why not use it? For
example, ask the members of the list to produce the research for you.
Most of us know how to research, how to write a paper, and how to cite
our sources. Those of us who haven't done it before can certainly learn,
and will find the knowledge useful in college, if not later for work
purposes.

To minimize the inevitable mistakes and biases, ask two or more members
to research (independently) the same subject, then compile your tables
from the combined results. Also, since most of us have lives outside of
ME and the Internet, setting more than one researcher to a task will
ensure a greater coverage in faster time. And since you probably can't
afford to pay cash for the work, you can pay in named credit (a separate
list of 'researchers' in anything derived from someone's work) and
possibly in free merchandise/downloads. (One free copy/download of the
project that researcher worked on.) This would not affect sales, since
most of us will be buying nore than just the one project we are working
on. For those of us who have writing careers (either actual or planned),
the credits will also be useful over and above the ego factor!
