This happens to be exactly what I do.  I do this because range and bullet
drop are concerns to me.  If they weren't concerns, I wouldn't need to pay
attention to them... :)

If you're referring to my statement that at 1000m the bullet has eleven
meters of gravitational drop, I stand by it.  Gravity will drop it by eleven
meters (thirteen and change for a 1.65s flight time), and there's not a
blessed thing anyone can do about it.  The aerodynamic lift provided by the
bullet's velocity is a different thing--I was talking only about the effect
of gravity.
